Hello, readers, and happy February 2024!
We are now three months into this blog’s fourth year, and as ever, I have been taking photographs, traveling, and enjoying experiences faster than I can write and publish posts about them. 😊
I’m torn between two desires: to spend less time writing, and to spend more time finishing up the 80 some drafts I have lying around. I do, however, know that a few parts of my workflow have really not been working out for me.
Here’s how things are going to look going forwards…
First off, I will try and prioritize telling the strongest stories, or sharing some of the coolest stuff as it happens.
In addition, I’m going to try to work on getting my past “series” finished – by this I mean, longer series of posts about a given trip somewhere. These span ~2021-2023 and primarily take place in Haida Gwaii, Suriname, the Washington Coast, the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Northern California, and Malaysia.
To make actual progress getting these online, I’ve broken them into several “parts” consisting of a few posts. So, once I finish say, three posts from a series, they’ll get posted one after the other, and ideally there will be less whiplash than if I just interweaved everything like crazy.
(And, also, I will try to resist the urge to adhere to linear chronology or decide I need to write a post about the other time I did something vaguely similar before I get to the stuff I actually want to write.)
In between, I have some longer drafts that don’t fit in anywhere else, and maybe some talk about weird film rolls.
I will also abandon my attempt to write a long, involved Month in Review post for each month. And I hereby replace them with an optional, shorter Month in Review post that I’ll do whenever I feel like it.
(At some point October & November 2023 in Review posts might get finished, but they also are really long and unwieldy in their current state.)
So, if I start jumping topics, sticking to them, and then jumping again, but maybe actually share some flower pictures this spring… Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!!
Lastly, and very least-y, the images in this post were all taken today during an evening stroll around West Seattle, using a vintage DSLR. (The six megapixel Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D, to be precise.)
The camera surprised me, because I thought it somehow magically had the year correct when it asked me for the date when I switched it on. Only after I loaded the shots on my computer did I realize my mistake, since all of the shots claimed to have come from 2004.
Thanks for reading!
